Historical Background
This is Chief Labi reporting. My interest in philathropic endeavors peaked as soon as I began working as a counselor at Garfield High School as far back as 1999. This was a time when I met a wonderful teacher by the name of Mr. Kjell Rye. He taught Computer Technology in my school. He quickly became my friend and I became a regular visitor to his department. It was there that I learned not only how to tinker with computer paraphernalia, I also got to become part of his program.
The name of his program was Global Technology Academy (GTA). GTA was a Federal Section 501 C non profit organization. It started very small but soon grew into a world wide activity. GTA was student-centered. The organization solicited for computers and other technological parts. These are refurbished and are then sent to needy countries around the world. Students accompany the items and usually spend about 3 weeks in the recieving country.
