About Us

LADBEL, THE WAY FORWARD.  A LITTLE KIND DEED GOES A LONG WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A POOR COMMUNITY.

Hi, My name is Chief S. Labi I.  I am academic counselor at Garfield high school, a large inner city school with a student population of about 1600 located in Seattle, Washington.  The idea of launching a non-profit organization never crossed my mind until some of my students and their parents suggested it to me.  I have family ties to Ghana and Nigeria and visit a couple of times every year.

Ladbel is made up of 5 Directors and two ad-hoc overseas Directors.  Our names are: Chief Labi, Ferguson Adesoye, Dr. Joe Appiah-Kusi, Daniel Docter, Karin Engstrom, Rambir Singh Toor, Nana Kwabena Dade II (Ghana), and Dr. F. W. Bello (Nigeria).

Ferguson J. Adesoye had his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1984 at University of Texas, Austin , MBA at Laredo State University, Texas in 1985, and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Washington State in 1994. Ferguson has more than ten years experience in health care industry.  As one of the Chief Executive Owners of Amicable Healthcare, some of my responsibilities include establishment of strong internal controls to ensure proper monitoring and accountability, as well as planning and budgeting, and overseeing overall financial systems and internal controls of the company, and ensuring proper compliance of both Federal and State regulations. His prior business experience includes serving as a lecturer at City University, teaching graduate level Accounting and Economics; and Economics of Social Issues at undergraduate level.

My name is Daniel Docter. I have been in the field of teaching for close to 25 years. Currently,

I am teaching World History at Garfield High School in Seattle. I have always had a passion

for teaching students about the world , both from historical and geographical perspectives.

It is vital that students get the opportunity to explore the many aspects of

the world by getting actual “hands on” experiences. I have been fortunate enough the have

had the opportunity to work with teachers and students in both South Africa and Tanzania on

projects that stress the importance of identifying with their own history and geography.

I am pleased to now be involved in working on environmental issues with a village in Ghana, located in

West Africa. I will be documenting the progress using video, just as I did in South Africa and Tanzania.

I hope to help recruit students in getting involved in such projects, that will hopefully instill the same

passion that I was fortunate enough to have gotten in my early years as a teacher.

About LEHO Members,

Let me introduce you to Professor Judy Andrews, Lecturer at the Seattle University Law School.  She engaged two Law students to look over our application for IRS non-profit status.  Both Robert Cadranell and Marlon Franada gave their best with guidance of our esteemed Professor Judy.  Professor Judy has indicated that there should be a meeting with all of us present to sign the documents we are to send to the IRS, after perhaps her explaining one or two details to us.  She has spent inordinate amounts of time in looking over our application.  She has given the Hip-hip-hip; and it is time for all of us, in unison, to add the hurray.  Because there is a deadline for the submission of the application, coupled with my impending travel to Africa at the end of July, it is reasonable for all of us to agree on a specific date and time next week to meet and sign the documents.  We are also proud to have Dr. F. W. Bello, medical doctor and member of Ladbel join us in Seattle, coming all the way from Nigeria.

Professor Andrews, could you please clarify succinctly why all hands must be on deck? It may also help us if you could give us two alternative days and times you would like to meet all of us.  I believe with your help, we could use a facility within the Law School.  Since I teach in Room 206, Piggott Hall here at Seattle University, I could open the Lab for us to hold our meeting there.

Let me now list the names and contact information of all of us in order to make things a bit faster and clearer.

PS:  Upon advise from Scott Jackson, Vice President of PATH whom I met some weks back, LADBEL is being linked with existing Washington State Organizations to get us recognized and expanded.  I have already sent emails and information from our website to the following:
1. Scott Jackson................Vice President.........PATH                          https:// www.path.org
2. Bill Clapp.........President, Seattle International Foundation:        https://www.seaif.org
3. Mauricio Vivero....Executive Director, Seattle Int. Foundation:  https://www.seaif.org

4. Ms Bookda Gheisar, Executive, Global Washington                https://www.globalwa.org

5. Ralph Munro, Executive, Worldwide Connections Inc.           Ralph@munro.com

6. Cliff Lenton, Global Health Strategist, World Vision         https://www.worldvision.org

7. Mike Veitenhans, Vice president, Gifts and Kind, WV      https://www.worldvision.org

8. Thomas Tighe, President and CEO, Direct Relief Int.   https://www.directrelief.org

9. Soozi Redkey, VP, Med. Team Int.              https://www.nwmedicalteams.org

10. Laura Guimond, Director, Mercy Corps       https://www.mercycorps.org

It is apparent from the above that there are like-minded organizations with taproots that are willing to take us under their wings and help us expand through advertizing, joint ventures etc. However, we must first get our documents lined up and submitted and then we can have the non-profit status to begin operation in earnest.
